Our services are designed to provide the support, resources, and opportunities needed for personal and community growth. Here’s how we are making a difference:
The BEAT: BEATS (Be Empowered After Time Served) Workshops
The BEAT believes in second chances and the power of transformation. Our BEATS Workshops are designed to empower young individuals, aged 12-17, who have been impacted by the criminal justice system. Through motivational workshops led by formerly incarcerated individuals, we provide invaluable insights and practical strategies to help participants navigate life before, during, and after incarceration.
Program Highlights:
- Pre-incarceration: Real-life stories and preventive strategies to avoid criminal behavior, discussing life circumstances and decisions that can lead to incarceration, and offering insights into preventive measures and early interventions.
- During Incarceration: Addressing how to cope with the daily challenges of prison life, maintain mental and emotional health, and utilize time for personal development. Participants learn coping strategies, mental health maintenance, and the importance of personal development while serving time.
- Post-Incarceration (Pathways to Reintegration): Focusing on strategies for reintegration into society, including job search, relationship rebuilding, and community engagement. Workshops cover job search techniques, relationship rebuilding, and community engagement to support successful reintegration.
Intervention & Suppression Strategies Workshops:
These workshops focus on addressing key issues that affect youth and their communities. The workshops are offered as a comprehensive series and as individual subjects based on the needs each participant. Participants will gain insights and education on:
- Gang Intervention: Strategies for avoiding gang involvement and fostering positive peer relationships.
- Anger Management: Techniques for managing anger and resolving conflicts peacefully.
- Alternatives to Violence: Promoting non-violent responses and conflict resolution.
- Bullying Prevention: Addressing and preventing bullying behaviors.
- Clarifying Values: Helping youth identify and adhere to positive personal values.
Advocacy and Beyond: In addition to our workshops, we advocate for better laws and policies to support incarcerated individuals and those re-entering society. Our advocacy efforts focus on raising awareness, influencing policy changes, and ensuring community support for successful reintegration. We actively engage with policymakers, community leaders, and organizations to promote fairer justice system reforms and better support structures for those transitioning back into society.
